Fashion: Glam up your look with a kimono

Can you believe we already saying farewell to this beautiful month of Ramadaan. It's totally unbelievable how the month just flew by and this is the time when most people are running around for their last Eid shopping, my thoughts and duas are with my sister in-law in Namibia while they preparing to say their final goodbyes to their beloved father. Two weeks ago my husband also lost a very close friend, for the first two weeks of Ramadaan every night after taraweeg he visited him at the hospital and it was a very sad day of his janazaah, leaving behind his wife and four beautiful kids. This month has once again opened my eyes to what's really important in life and that we are only on this dunya (earth) for a very short time.

 I haven't been posting much on social media because I told myself before the start of Ramadaan that I will limit myself and not spend too much time online. The Eid inspo looks and collab photoshoots I was approached to do, a Tv interview and a pop-up launch of an international brand I was invited to, with everything that happened this past month this all never happened, Allah knows best. Seeing that I never got around posting this lookpost even though this photoshoot was done more than two months ago I thought why not share it now it may just be some inspiration to someone. 

I won this kimono last year October at an event and I loved it from the moment it was handed over to me on stage, I was reminded that it's one of a kind and reason being it's from the first collection of kimono's ever made by @Europa_ede. Many clients wanted to purchase it that day and I do see why. This kimono is the center of attraction I won't forget the day I did this photoshoot while roaming around Rhodes Memorial from the one spot to the next I received so many stares and compliments from people that day, but those good stares you know.

I love the flowiness, the beautiful print and the pop of vibrance it brings to the outfit. You really don't have to do much to make it stand out because the kimono speaks for itself and that's where I incorporated the perfect maxi dress, matching scarf and block heel which complimented the kimono perfectly. This kimono can be styled differently for all occasions, I even think this look can easily work for Eid.

Living in the moment

So lately I've been living life in the moment or at least trying to. Yes, I know I'm the last one to be talking about living in the moment because I always have a phone in my hand ready to capture every last detail of what's happening. I'm the one that starts the day off by updating my insta-stories posting about my lovely morning coffee to the crazy meeting or deadline, what I'm wearing or what's for supper but for the past two weeks I have slowed down and went from posting whole day everyday to once or twice a week. I have decided instead of capturing the amazing or even not so amazing moment I'll enjoy, embrace and appreciate it without distractions. I didn't have to get that perfect angle and let the actual moment slip by without realising it, that is exactly whats happening because we focus too much on getting the perfect picture but miss out on the actual moment. 
I love taking pictures so I won't stop capturing them but I feel some moments shouldn't be wasted with the interruptions and will be remembered as a beautiful memory, they don't have to be shared with everyone. And I'm not saying that I'm not going to post as much anymore but sometimes I get those up and down times when I feel like deleting my blog with all my social media accounts and then there's times I feel like going crazy and posting a lot of pics non stop. 

Life gets so busy and at times it's good to slow down and take a break and focus on what's important.
I'm glad I started slowing down now because we like two weeks away from Ramadaan, a time where I would rather much spend my time doing other things and not live online. So in a way I'm prepping I guess.

Not only is she very talented but also very fashionable, the day I met her you would have thought that she's the one going for a photoshoot all dressed up in heels and looking good. When I asked her she replied and said that she feels very comfortable working that way, while doing the shoot I saw that she really was super comfy she ran in heels when I forgot my sunglasses at a particular spot and literally lied on the floor to take a picture of my shoes. She's just amazing, guides you through the shoot and tells you what works and what doesn't. We ended up having cappuccino's and long chats that day as if we knew each other for a long time. About this look:

I really enjoyed creating this look, it all started the day I saw this beautiful top with embroidery detail on the Instagram page of Akusesari . The rest of the pieces was added, Crushed scarf in cornflower blue from my fav Rana Scarves , Lovisa tassel earings and mrp.com jeans and wedges.

Events : Spring Wardrobe Styling Workshop at WORKSHOPMODESTY

Hi Beauties...

Happy Weekend!

Soo who doesn't love events, pretty decor, delicious food and inspiring people? That's what went down at the Workshopmodesty  Styling Workshop event two weeks ago, yes I know I'm late with this blog post but as use know I'm busy with a hundred things and it gets crazy at times but none the less, here goes enjoy the read!
So let me start from the beginning, my journey with the amazing ladies from Little Big Event Planners and Workshopmodesty started a year ago when they invited me to the launch to write a blog post about the "opening events and happenings".This time I was invited as a guest speaker and I felt very honoured, Shukran so much for inviting me and making me part of this great event.(if you would like to read the blog post about the launch follow this workshopmodesty opening launch )

So upon arrival everyone loved the beautiful setting, it was so pretty and welcoming and had a Spring feel to it with tones of white and pink decor and the most beautiful flower arrangements. And guess what for once in my life I was early and being early has it's perks, I got to meet some of the amazing designers I didn't meet before (we follow each other on instagram but never met) we had time to chat and take some pictures together before it got crowded.

Welcome
The event kicked of with a heart warming opening from the lovely Nasheetah (owner of Workshopmodesty), she mentioned that she doesn't feel like the owner at all and that all the designers are owners and that they are like family to her. The in house designers currently showcasing their beautiful garments in the store are GKD by Gadijah Kahn, Vanilla for kids by Rafeeqa Smith, Diyana, Khaos Jewels and Nasheetah's brand the Infinity Collection SA.

Fashion

Ok, so to be honest I never spoke at events before other than at my moms 50th and recently at my dad-inlaws 70th birthday party in front of so eighty people and it consisted mostly of family and friends. When little Big Event Planners approached me and

asked if I would like to be a guest speaker at the event I thought it would be good to step out of my comfort zone and that there's always a first time for everything right? So when it was my turn I started off fine and spoke for a few minutes and while speaking I suddenly began to feel so weird, I tried to continue after I drank some juice but felt like I wanted to faint, I really don't know if it was nerves or just my sugar levels that dropped because I didn't eat. After I took a break while someone else continued with their topic I felt fine and ready to continue and I must say the second time around went much better and I was happy to have shared of my fashion tips and also some of this seasons spring/summer trends. 

Makeup
In-between me taking a little break we had professional makeup artist safiyyah Sauls sharing makeup tips and she also showed us how to create a quick spring make-up look, I really loved the oranje eye shadow look she created on Raeesa.





Clothing
One of the in-house designers Gadija Khan gave the guests some amazing clothing and styling tips. She explained how to take care for your clothes, how to make it last longer and showed some of her latest designs while also giving away some great prizes.






Scarfstyling
We then had scarf styling by the talented Raeesa founder of Zahara Scarfstyling and all the beautiful on-trend scarves used was from Rana scarves. The question alot of people always ask "how do you wrap your turbans and how do you get your scarf to stay on your head" Raeesa explained that so nicely, she mentioned that the base/ underscarf or cap you use is the most important because if the base is not right your scarf won't look or feel right and will slip off.

Next up we had Faghri from Revere linen,   he gave the guests some great home tips and tricks he also gave us awesome ideas on how to re-create a space in your home or outside that you don't like or wanted to change but just never got to it. He went on over to the bedroom section and explained how to make your bed look Aaamazing without breaking the bank but also explained the importance of quality fabric.





Last but definetly not least we had the amazing Registered Councellor Shanaaz Moos sharing parenting tips and explaining that how beauty should firstly come from the inside before working and beautifying the outside!
