Mommy and mini entitled Clean Page

Hi all you beautiful people,

This is my first blogpost for the year and I don't know if it's ok to still say Happy New Year, I mean we in the second week of January already but some people say you can still say so till the end January :) So Happy New Year, Hehehe.

Most of you probably returning back to work today(I guess you dreaded this day), I'm back at work since last week Wednesday and was envying you guys that was still on holiday enjoying yourself on the beach somewhere while I was trying to find my feet here. Last week was really difficult I couldn't concentrate. I felt I really needed to get back into the swing of things, but this is a new week and I'm so ready for it.

Guys I'm excited for this new year, I haven't jotted down any new years resolutions like other times because its all in my mind. I know exactly what I want to achieve this year, be it short term or long term and it will stay in my mind till I achieve it #goals, hehehe spirit hey. I wish you all well for this new year with what ever it is you want to do, live more healthier, study, try something new or just be more awesome at what ever you are doing right now. We all got another chance to start on a clean page, we got another chance to see a new year and each day we get a change to open our eyes to see a new day, Alhamdulilaah (praise be to Allah) so make the best of it.

This photoshoot was done by Capturing Concepts Photography. It was a scorching hot day in the mother city when we did the photoshoot and you know how kids can get in the heat if they not in water. I tried to make it fun and playful for Shazia, check me running and making funny moves to make her laugh.

For a parent the holidays can be very tiring, if not for you but for me. A three year old can be very demanding and nags alot if you don't keep them entertained. And that was what I did or rather tried to do this holiday. As a parent you try your best to make your kid/kids happy but don't always know if you succeeding but yet still try right.

Myself and Shazia had some great bonding time this holiday as Daddy was working, pssst she's a Daddy's girl. I really needed loads of patience, she made me mad all the time because she doesn't listen and catch on her own things, I know they say it's #exploring right. I needed to talk alot, felt like I was constantly on repeat. Nonetheless I felt we had a great time even though so short, we made some good memories and became the best of friends :)

About the look

This look is all about me and my mini-me Shazia. Most of the time we wear matchy clothes or colours but have never really done a photoshoot or blogpost about it, I just always share pictres on my socialmedia. I created this cute look for her starting from the lacercut t-shirt, then added the matching shorts and choker, the shoes and hat came afterwards. I then created my look to match with hers, not quite so cute but I tried to match, obviosly going for a longer pants and covering my arms for a more modest look. Our lace henna tattoos are from Skh_sa , I had a lot of ladies asking me where it's from so there's a link to her Instagram page.

Lookpost: Breakfast at Tiffany's

Good morning beautiful people 

I trust the holidays are treating you well :)

For most or all bloggers this time of the year means no blogging and only holidaying but for me on the other hand it's blogging because I have a bit of free time on my hands to do a blogpost. 

This is however my last blogpost for the year and I would like to thank each of you, whether a follow, a comment, a like, reading my blog, what ever you did that somehow contributed to my blog, a heartfelt Thank You.

The blogging world has been good in terms of growth, I met some really inspiring people, attended some awesome events, had some interesting times on Voice of the Cape radio this year, talking about modesty and exercise to Echi from Halaalife and on the show Covermode I spoke to Roshan Isaacs about my blog and a recent one about summer trends. Lastly a change I've also seen is my blog stats that have grown tremendously compared to a year ago.

On a more personal level I feel I am more confident woman than what I was at the beginning of the year. In terms of work the year started of a bit rocky but I have learned, grown and gained so much experience in my field and I'm so grateful for that. As a mother to my three year old daughter, Oooh, I still feel I need all the patience in the world, that topic needs a blogpost on its own but she's our blessing and I shukr Allah everyday for that. As a wife I don't have any complaints except the house chores and cooking never ends, ongoing cycle hey hehehe. Will you believe me when I say we celebrated our twelfth wedding anniversary last week, feels like only yesterday when we tied the knot but each year our bond and love for each other grows stronger, Alhamdulilaah❤

Lets talk about this look I wore to a event themed Breakfast at Tiffany's, and that's why I choose this title for the blogpost.

This look was inspired by the iconic style icon Audrey Hepburn, to think what she wore more than half a century ago is still in style. I went with a monochrome look, so her right? The skirt is perfect for a sophisticated look and can be dressed down with sandals for a more casual look aswell. Audrey loved midi skirts, I styled mine with a black bell sleeve lacer cut top. I think they went perfect together creating the contrast between black and white. For shoes I wore black laceup heels, also with a bit of lacer cut matching the outfit. I usually love over accessorizing but for this look I had to keep myself to a minimum because the outfit already gave that edge. I wore my favourite white tassle earings and for final touches I added the black hat.

 It's the first time I wore a scarf under my hat, I felt it really secured my hat and I didn't have to worry about it falling off or blowing away and best of all my hair was covered. The cute black bag I saw the night before the event, I could not resist it and had to have it. For a true Audrey look I did not forget the bold lip, cat eye and filled eyebrows.

I really enjoyed doing this photoshoot with Capturing Concepts Photography  at Claremont Gardens. The event I attended was held in Claremont so we thought it would be great to meet there.

They captured everything so perfectly from the details of the bag, tying my heels laces, checking if my hat is still intact and even some moments while on the phone with my husband.

It's the last day of the year and we officially saying goodbye to 2016, whether it's been a good or bad year for you or a mixture of the two we say fairwell and hello to new beginnings. Good luck and Happy New Year!

Woman's month:Celebrating Women!

Hi Darlings,
I thought this post was never going to happen, time is just never on my side. So its the last of August and we saying goodbye to Woman's month? Shouldn't every month be woman's month? In my eyes everyday is Woman's day, we should be treated with love, respect and dignity every single day not only on Woman's day or Mothers day.
 

Empowering one another
I believe we as woman need to stand together and empower each other, we need to support, motivate, encourage each other all the time. All of us go through so many struggles in our lives, some stories we share and some we choose to keep to ourselves, and then you still get woman that want to break each other down. You really don't know what the next person is going through, we all have a way of smiling but deep down so much is happening.
Thank the women in your life for being there for you, sometimes you need to let the person know how important they are to you.

 

Background
I was fortunate to spend this Woman's day with my friends, we've come a very long way, some of us come as far back as primary school, we reunited on high school and our group of friends just grew bigger. Departing from there and not sure of what the future holds and whether we'll still see each other and be able to uphold our friendship. We went to study further, the year's just flew by, there was a time we saw each other once a year. One by one each one of us got married, and now we at the stage in our lives where we becoming mommies, we all have demanding jobs and some of us still studying part time trying our best to make our dreams a reality, life's tough  if you don't have good friends you can easily fall apart. In this one picture you'll find wife's and mothers that's also work as Project Coordinator, Manager, Internal Auditor, future Accountant and Chartered Accountant. So just setting a date to meet up and have girly chats over cappuccino's and delicious food is just somewhat impossible. We'll be chatting back and forth, changing dates, times, venues and menu's, even having a debate about what colour to wear for a photoshoot, hehehe. We don't see each other a lot so when we do we always make it fun and laugh our hearts out over old stupid things.





Unfortunately not everyone could make it for the photoshoot but there's always a next time, you were missed dear friends.

About the photoshoot
We decided to all wear black but each of us expressed ourselves differently to the kind of person we are and what we love, bringing out our own style and individuality. I think we mastered the art of colour popping, lipstick, nail polish and accessorizing.
